Western Research and Education Network (WESTREN)

Welcome to WestREN, the Western Research and Education Network

WestREN is a partnership between more than 150 GPs and general practices and the Discipline of General Practice at NUI Galway.

WestREN covers a population of over 400,000 from an area extending geographically from counties Cork to Donegal.

Network practices represent urban and rural communities of varying socio-economic backgrounds.  Practice list sizes range from 500 to 5,000 and from single-handed to multi-partner practices.

Our Mission

The mission of WestREN is to support primary care research and education in order to improve the quality of care delivered to patients in the community.
