Welcome to WestREN, the Western Research and Education Network.
WestREN is a partnership between more than 185 GPs and general practices and the Discipline of General Practice at NUI Galway.
WestREN covers a population of over 500,000 from an area extending geographically from counties Cork to Donegal.
Network practices represent urban and rural communities of varying socio-economic backgrounds. Practice list sizes range from 500 to 5,000 and from single-handed to multi-partner practices.

The mission of WestREN is to support primary care research and education in order to improve the quality of care delivered to patients in the community.

Full physical and online access to NUI Galway Library
Physical access allows you to visit, use and borrow material all libraries of NUI Galway including the Medical Library at the Clinical Sciences Institute, UHG, in addition to the James Hardiman Library on the main university campus.The entire Library collections number 463,000 monographs, and the Library receives approximately 700 current periodical titles in printed format. If you wish to avail of physical access to the Library services at NUI Galway, please send a passport size photo with your name written in block letters on the reverse to Breda Kelleher, General Practice, Clinical Science Institute, NUI Galway. A library card will be posted to you once the library staff has processed it.
Online access gives you the opportunity from the comfort of your home or office to link to the full Library website at
